LuxePineapple- One of My Favorite Hidden Gems

Image
Back during the days of bar study, I was accidentally procrastinating (aka reading 100s of beauty blogs) when I stumbled upon  LuxePineapple .  At first, I was incredibly confused as to what exactly it was.  It's not your typical subscription box company because in fact, they don't do subscription boxes.  Actually, they do something better: boxes of joy.  Frequently, usually at least once or twice a week they create a limited number of these boxes that have amazing beauty products for an UNBELIEVABLE discount.  My last purchase was a $15 box of joy filled with $75 worth of incredible make-up.  They also offer other single items at discounted prices and even some fan favorite discontinued colors in certain brands, such as Chanel.  Every time I get an email from them, I can't help but smile because I know it will contain some MUST HAVE deal to tempt me and I won't be disappointed. Each box of joy comes in this adorable packaging...and no I don't just like it becau

Square Hue Subscription August 2014 Review

Image
Square Hue  is a monthly nail polish subscription that delivers 3 specially curated nail polish colors to your door monthly for $14.99 a month.  The BEST part is that some of the proceeds of your order go to charity :)  There's no commitment and you can cancel at any time, which is a great quality in my opinion for a subscription box!  This was my first month using Square Hue so I was excited to get home from vacation and finally try out the colors.  Each month has a different theme and for August, the theme was the Beverly Hills Passport Collection. Yes, I thought I was cool and would be super creative and throw in my passport with the picture of the collection...lame, I know. This month's box came with a purple micro shimmer (Cannon Drive), a blue micro shimmer (Wilshire Boulevard), and a gold micro glitter (Rodeo Drive).  I LOVE all of these colors and I'm glad this was my first box.  I haven't used the purple yet, but I'm sure I will within the next few

I Went to Oregon and Had a Life Changing Facial

It's been about 3 weeks since I've finished the California Bar Exam.  I remember the first few days after finishing (most of which I spent sleeping), I suddenly panicked and thought "what in the world do I do now?!"  This was about to be the first time in 21 years that I wasn't starting a new school year and the past 3 years of law school had sort of made me forgotten what I loved to do in my free time.  Being in the limbo phase of the end of law school and finding out bar results is such an odd time in a person's life.  You have to find a job because pretty soon those student loans can't be ignored, but you're not yet sure if you're even an attorney.  I started to feel lost, confused, and unsure about everything.  My biggest fear has always been that feeling of uncertainty, of not knowing what's going to happen next.  I always had a plan, but right now for the first time in my life, I don't know where I'll be or what I'll be doing

Why Birchbox Has AMAZING Customer Service

Image
For a while, I had about 500  Birchbox  points ($50) to spend on their website.  I had gone back and forth debating whether or not to spend them or save them, when of course I receive this  tweet .  Of course now that Birchbox was convincing me to spend the points, I just had to do it.  I finally decided to order the  Number 4 Va-Va-Volumizing Set  because I fell in love with the samples I received of this in my first ever Birchbox.  I also added the  Mystery Sample Pack  and the  Ace Exclusive Bonus Pack .  Once you earn 500 points in a year, you become a Birchbox Ace and trust me, it's not hard to earn 500 points in a year and the Ace program has worthwhile perks.   Anyway, I received my order and to my surprise, it wasn't what I was expected.  Rather than the full size Number 4 Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, I received a travel pack of Number 4 Volumizing products.  Everything else in my order was correct and while, I didn't want to complain because I do love t

August 2014 Birchbox Review

My first introduction to subscription boxes was of course  Birchbox .  It's still my all-time favorite and they have the absolute best customer service I've ever encountered (you'll hear more about this in my next blog post). Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that costs $10 a month for women and they also have a men's edition that is $20 a month.  You can pay by the month or you can go ahead and purchase an entire year's subscription for $110.  When you sign-up, you fill out a survey so that they can try to customize your samples so that you get what you want.  Each month you get 4-5 deluxe samples, and recently Birchbox has started a new feature where each month, subscribers can choose one of the items that will be selected.  If you're interested in signing up, please use my  referral link .  I promise you won't regret it!  Plus they have a great point system where you can earn money to shop for full size products for every purchase you make and f

Apparently This is The Story of How I Got to Where I Am

Image
It seems as if I've been talking about starting a blog and gathering information for so long now that I can't believe I'm sitting down to finally write my first entry.  Then again, the entire past 3 years of my life have been such a blur that I still can't grasp the reality of where I am today. Exactly 3 years and 12 days ago, I moved to San Diego, CA.  I had grown up in Richmond, VA and lived in the same house my entire life up until my 4 wonderful years at this great place called Virginia Tech.  I'd never been past the East Coast despite having traveled to Europe a few times, but California is a place I had dreamt of since I was a little girl.  The day I flew out to San Diego, I arrived with simply two suitcases and a carry-on.  I knew no one.  I had never been there before.  All I really knew was that I was signed-up to begin law school in a few weeks.  I'll never forget entering my first apartment and staring at the bare, empty walls as I waited for my re
